Having the basis for ingenuity is a great thing for kids, and I can't really ever see that going away, but I really think that programming as a discipline is becoming more a means to an end rather than an end in and of itself. It starts with the premise, from Guido's prior work on ABC, to make a simple but easy to understand language. - A Discipline of Programming by Dijkstra.
